I’m not educated enough to speak on the differences between the mk6 & mk7, but the verdict seems to be that the mechanical upgrades from mk7 to mk8 (engine, suspension, etc) are solid changes, but that the interior is more cheaply made (more hard plastics), and the capacitive touch is generally an L to most people.

Much more aggressive than the 7.5. I have the exact same mk7.5 in black so know the car from every corner and seeing the MK8 is actually refreshing. This may also may be due to the car being black. I especially think the rear diffuser is nicely executed on the new model. Sculpts around the exhaust tips very nicely.
Looking to see if anyone has any information that discusses the differences between a 2015 and 2016 model. I am looking at the regular GTI, Autobahn, Performance Package variants with a panoramic moonroof and navigation (or is it better to replace the headunit with an aftermarket stereo and Garmin-based unit)? Posted July 21, 2018. The DSG is different (6 speed in Mk7, 7 speed DQ381 'box in the Mk7.5). Sport mode in the 6 speed is not very practical unless you are driving quite hard (constantly revving very high). Other options can make a difference eg DCC vs non DCC suspension. Quote.
