If we're looking at best survival horror resident evil titles, I'd say Resident Evil 7. That game was genuinely scary. If you're leaning more into the survival aspect of things, then I think RE 1, 2, 3 (along with their remakes), and RE8.

Resident Evil Village, aka Resident Evil 8, is a sequel to Resident Evil 7. I know that sounds like a slightly pointless thing to say as a review opener - but bear with me for a moment.
Fairly cheap and a solid option for first unlimited ammo weapon. Dragoon - Probably the best option for first infinite ammo weapon. Capable of carrying through story. Poor man’s WCX. Only thing keeping this from A tier is ammo capacity and reload time. V61 Custom - Best pistol (non magnum) and overall great gun.
Windows Central Verdict. Resident Evil Re:Verse is a baffling multiplayer experiment that fails to deliver compelling gameplay, general balance, and meaningful reasons to play more than a handful
Well after finishing RE 8:Village I must say this is HANDS DOWN the best Resident Evil game to enter the series. It takes every single great thing about every single entry 1-7 and meshes them together in a great fluid story. The pacing is awesome, the writing is absolutely spectacular and the voice acting is stunning as well.
I 100% agree with you that it was trying to be 4 mixed with 7 and ended up being some mild version of both. I think from an artistic integrity point of view, 4 and 7 were super innovative for the series and much like 5 & 6, and RE3, 8 displayed the series’ tendency to reuse components and dilute the final product.
2 Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a unique horror game that was released exclusively on the GameCube in 2002. This game features similar gameplay to the early games in the Resident Evil franchise with some really unique features, meaning this game has become a cult classic among survival horror fans
Resident Evil Village is more action-focused than its predecessor - and it's visibly closer to the classic Resident Evil 4 in its moment-to-moment gameplay - but it blends this with the survival
Jumping late on that wagon but I finished this instant RE7 and saw Chris' redesign after so long and forgot how different he was, now that I'm seeing RE8's design it's just shocking the 180 they pulled here. As a design principle, the more unique a character's features are, the more you'll remember him.
Resident Evil 7 already offered up high fidelity character models. Each member of the Baker family was rendered flawlessly with polygon counts in the high five figures. Barring some of Naughty Dog Although Resident Evil 7 isn’t packed with gunplay in the same way its predecessors were, you’ll amass a sizable arsenal by the time the credits roll. This guide will cover Resident Evil 7’s
Yes, Resident Evil games always runs great on PC. For RE0 and RE HD Remaster I recommend using a controller. RE4 have a HD mod that is a huge improvement over console versions. Resident Evil 7 is well optimized for PC. There is a demo of RE7 available on Steam, you can try and see how well it runs on your PC. RE2 demo is rumored to be released
Resident Evil 7 is a confident attempt at reinvention. But it’s the way it channels the older games, particularly the first, that really makes it great. It takes an industrial pressure washer to

It would probably suck. Also RE is more combat oriented than SH, in SH you avoid monster way more than in RE so it would be boring and nausea inducing, also imagine the filthy bloody walls from Silent Hill 3, something like that in VR, it would be a vomit festival. The developers tried to make it really scary.
